The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and military discipline following public scrutiny over the case involving the acid attack on Kontras activist Andrie Yunus.

This statement was delivered by the Head of the TNI Information Centre, Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, after a meeting with the Ministry of Defence to discuss internal TNI revitalisation in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.

“A meeting has been held between the Ministry of Defence and the TNI to discuss TNI’s internal revitalisation. This aligns with the President’s guidance on strengthening law enforcement and safeguarding national honour issues,” Aulia said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/3).

Aulia emphasised that the TNI will not tolerate any form of legal or disciplinary violations by its soldiers, including in the current case under public attention.

“The TNI reaffirms its commitment to firmly addressing every legal and disciplinary violation committed by TNI soldiers,” he stressed.

Furthermore, he stated that soldiers proven to have committed criminal acts will be processed according to applicable regulations, either through military courts or internal disciplinary sanctions.

“For soldiers who commit legal violations or criminal acts, the TNI offers no tolerance and will take firm action in accordance with applicable laws, whether through military courts, disciplinary punishments such as detention and dismissal from positions, or dishonourable discharge,” he said.

Aulia further noted that until 2026, the TNI will consistently enforce discipline and law against soldiers across all ranks, from officers to non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel.

“Law enforcement is applied to various violations, ranging from abuse of authority to involvement in illegal activities and other criminal acts, including assaults,” he explained.

In addition to enforcement, the TNI will strengthen internal supervision and improve leadership quality at every command level to prevent similar violations from recurring.

“The TNI will continue to conduct internal supervision, enhance leadership quality, and instil values of discipline and integrity among all soldiers,” Aulia said.

Moreover, Aulia added that these steps are part of the TNI’s commitment to supporting government policies in strengthening the supremacy of law and ensuring every soldier becomes a role model in society.

“This commitment also ensures that every soldier upholds the law, discipline, and strong national values,” he added.

Furthermore, the TNI continues to promote internal revitalisation to create a more professional and accountable system in every law enforcement process.

“In principle, the TNI is committed to internal revitalisation by prioritising professionalism and accountability in all law enforcement processes within the TNI,” he concluded.
