TNI Soldiers in Lebanon Take Shelter in Bunkers, DPR Member: Preparedness That Cannot Be Compromised
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of DPR Commission I from the NasDem Faction, Amelia Anggraini, stated that the action of TNI soldiers in Lebanon sheltering in bunkers represents a form of tactical preparedness that cannot be compromised.
“Anticipatory steps such as tactical evacuation to bunkers are a form of preparedness that cannot be negotiated,” Amelia told Kompas.com on Sunday (5/4/2026).
According to Amelia, when escalation occurs, sheltering in bunkers is an appropriate, measured step that reflects the primary priority on personnel safety.
In dynamic and high-risk conflict situations, she said, quick decisions based on threat mitigation are part of the operational standards that must be implemented.
Meanwhile, Amelia encouraged the government and TNI to continue conducting periodic situation evaluations, strengthening troop protection systems, and ensuring adaptive contingency protocols in response to developments in the field escalation.
She requested that the safety of soldiers must always be the priority above all other considerations.
“Without diminishing Indonesia’s commitment as an active contributor to maintaining world peace,” Amelia added.
The order was conveyed by Agus during a video call with the Commander of Task Force Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL in Lebanon on Friday (3/4/2026).
“Maintain the morale of the soldiers there, continue carrying out internal security, enter the bunkers and do not engage in any outdoor activities,” Agus said, quoted from his personal Instagram account on Saturday (4/4/2026).
In response to the directive, the Task Force Commander expressed readiness of his unit to carry out the commander’s orders.
“Ready, Commander,” replied the Task Force Commander.
“And maintain the soldiers’ morale to keep them spirited. Thank you,” he said.
