The number of TNI soldiers who have fallen in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission has risen to four. TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto has conveyed his deepest condolences.
“TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, along with all ranks, expresses profound condolences over the passing of the nation’s finest soldier, Corporal Rico Pramudia, while on duty as part of the TNI Yonmek Task Force in the Garuda XXIII-S/UNIFIL Contingent in Lebanon,” stated the TNI Information Centre (Puspen TNI) via its Instagram account @puspentni on Saturday (25/4/2026).
Puspen TNI stated that the late soldier’s dedication, courage, and commitment serve as an example for all soldiers and the Indonesian nation. Puspen TNI emphasised that the services and sacrifices of these TNI personnel are eternal for the country.
“His passing is a great loss, but his fighting spirit will continue to live on as an inspiration in safeguarding world peace,” it said.
“May the late soldier attain the best place by the side of the Almighty God, and may his bereaved family be granted strength and fortitude,” it added.
Four TNI Soldiers Fall in Lebanon
Corporal Rico Pramudia (31) passed away while receiving treatment following severe injuries from an attack in southern Lebanon late last month. A total of four TNI soldiers have fallen while carrying out duties as UNIFIL peacekeepers.
UNIFIL announced Corporal Rico’s passing via its X account @UNIFIL_. UNIFIL extended its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of Corporal Rico Pramudia, as well as to the TNI, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Indonesia (RI).
“UNIFIL regrets the death today of Corporal Rico Pramudia, who was severely injured by a projectile explosion at the base where he was stationed in Adchit Al Qusayr on the night of 29 March,” stated UNIFIL.
The attack on the UNIFIL headquarters near Adchit Al Qusayr in southern Lebanon occurred amid rising tensions between the Israeli military and the Hezbollah group.
The following day, on Monday (30/3), the UN confirmed that two more TNI soldiers had died after an explosion struck a UNIFIL logistics convoy.
The attacks on UN peacekeepers have been strongly condemned by various parties and could be considered war crimes if carried out intentionally.
“Intentional attacks on peacekeepers constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701, and may be categorised as war crimes,” stated UNIFIL.
