TNI Soldier Falls After Israel Bombards Lebanon, Commission I Leader: Serious Violation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR, Sukamta, has emphasised that Israel’s attack on peacekeeping forces in Lebanon constitutes a serious violation.

Previously, a soldier from the Task Force of the Indonesian Garuda Contingent (Konga) TNI in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission was killed in Israel’s attack on Lebanon.

“Any form of attack on peacekeeping forces cannot be justified and represents a serious violation of the principles of international law,” Sukamta stated to Kompas.com on Monday (30/3/2026).

Sukamta said that the TNI’s service in the UN peacekeeping mission is a tangible manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining global order and stability.

“We believe the state will take appropriate and measured steps, pushing for a transparent investigation process, and ensuring that this incident is followed up through applicable international mechanisms,” he added.

“Indonesia is a nation that upholds peace, while also safeguarding its honour and dignity. In situations like this, firmness must go hand in hand with wisdom,” Sukamta continued.

“May the deceased receive the best place by the side of the Almighty God, and may the family left behind be granted strength and resilience,” he concluded.

It is known that one soldier from the Task Force of the Indonesian Garuda Contingent TNI in the UNIFIL mission was killed in Israel’s attack on Lebanon.

Not only that, several other soldiers were injured as a result of the incident.

Rico assured that, so far, the injured victims have received medical treatment.

He confirmed that the incident occurred amid exchanges of artillery fire from both sides.

“And the clarification process is still being carried out by UNIFIL,” he said.
