TNI Soldier Arrested for Burglaries at Six Minimarkets in Tulungagung and Trenggalek
A member of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) with the initials AM has been arrested after allegedly burgling six minimarkets and shops across Tulungagung and Trenggalek in East Java. AM, who is stationed at the Pakel Military District Command (Koramil) in Tulungagung, was apprehended whilst committing a burglary at a minimarket in Tulungagung in the early hours of Saturday, 7 March.
“It is indeed true that a member of the TNI Army did commit thefts at several minimarkets in Tulungagung and Trenggalek. The suspect’s initials are AM, an officer at the Pakel Military District Command in Tulungagung,” stated Letkol Czi Yudo Aji Susanto, Deputy Commander of Regional Military Command V/Brawijaya.
AM is currently under medical supervision at Bhayangkara Hospital in Tulungagung, with surveillance provided by the Subordinate Military Police Unit V/1-6 Tulungagung. The suspect will undergo further legal proceedings through the Military Police Unit V/1 in Madiun.
According to the statement, there are approximately six crime scenes identified in the Tulungagung and Trenggalek areas. The Regional Military Command V/Brawijaya has emphasised that it will take firm action against any violations of the law committed by its personnel, including the case involving AM.
“The suspect was indeed previously charged with a similar case in Trenggalek in 2024, receiving an eight-month prison sentence, and was only released from prison in 2025,” the spokesperson explained.
