TNI Service Vehicle Driver Who Crashed into Slipi Exit Toll Pole Suspected of Drowsiness
A TNI Maung service vehicle was involved in a traffic accident at the Slipi toll exit, directly in front of the DPR/MPR RI building in Central Jakarta, causing a road sign pole to collapse. The Head of the Traffic Directorate’s Highway Patrol Unit at Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, stated that the incident occurred at 08:30 WIB this morning. The vehicle was travelling from Cawang towards Slipi. “Upon arriving at the scene, precisely at the Pulo off-ramp at KM 9.800 (A), the vehicle suddenly lost control and crashed into a separator and a road sign pole at the location,” he said on Thursday (8/7/2026). It is suspected that the accident was caused by the driver falling asleep. “It is suspected that the driver was drowsy or experienced a microsleep,” he added. The accident resulted in traffic congestion. He added that two people were injured in the incident. A male passenger suffered injuries to both legs, while a female passenger sustained facial injuries. The victims were evacuated and taken to the Army Hospital (RS AD) Ridwan Meuraksa in East Jakarta.
