TNI Service Vehicle Driver Who Crashed into Slipi Exit Toll Pole Suspected of Drowsiness

A TNI Maung service vehicle was involved in a traffic accident at the Slipi toll exit, in front of the DPR/MPR RI building in Central Jakarta. The collision caused a road signpost to collapse.

Head of the Traffic Police Unit at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, said the incident occurred at 08.30 WIB this morning. The vehicle had been travelling from the direction of Cawang towards Slipi.

“Upon arriving at the scene, specifically at the Pulo offramp at KM 9.800 (A), the vehicle suddenly lost control and struck a separator and the road signposts at that location,” Reiki said when contacted on Thursday (8/7/2026).

The accident is suspected to have been caused by the driver falling asleep. The crash also led to traffic congestion.

“It is suspected the driver fell asleep or experienced a microsleep,” he said.

He added that two people were injured in the incident. The accident is now being handled by officers from the Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

“There were two passengers, a man and a woman. The man suffered injuries to both legs, while the woman sustained injuries to her face. The victims were evacuated and taken to the AD Ridwan Meuraksa Hospital in East Jakarta,” he explained.
