TNI Service in Remote Papua: Clean Beach, New Homes and Borehole Wells
Commander of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General TNI Febriel Buyung stated that the TNI Manunggal Membangun Desa (TMMD) program aims to improve community welfare and strengthen the bond between the military and citizens through collective effort. According to the Commander, the Regular TMMD 128th edition conducted by Kodim 1710/Mimika in Kekwa Village, Mimika Tengah District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua, represents a cross-sectoral collaboration between the military, ministries and agencies, local government, and the community. ‘The TMMD program is also part of efforts to accelerate development in the region, particularly in 3T areas — underdeveloped, isolated, and outermost regions,’ said Febriel Buyung during the closing ceremony of Regular TMMD 128 at Kekwa Village several days ago. He expressed appreciation for Mimika Regency Government’s support through the regional budget (APBD) for implementing the program. The Commander also commended the support from Kekwa Village residents, including customary leaders, religious figures, youth representatives, and local citizens who assisted TMMD task force personnel during the program. He noted that community support enabled all TMMD activities to run smoothly throughout the one-month implementation period. ‘With the conclusion of TMMD 128, we hope the completed developments will provide long-term benefits for Kekwa Village residents and strengthen the relationship between the military and the people,’ he added. TMMD 128 Kodim 1710/Mimika included both physical and non-physical projects. Physical activities comprised building five Type 36 houses, five public bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) facilities, renovating places of worship, painting a kindergarten building, and constructing five borehole wells.
