TNI sends letter to LPSK to examine Andrie Yunus as a witness
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has sent a letter to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to examine KontraS activist and acid attack victim Andrie Yunus.
The examination of Andrie Yunus as a victim witness is being conducted as part of the investigation process by the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom).
TNI Information Centre Head Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, in a press statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, explained that investigators initially intended to examine Andrie Yunus on Thursday (19/3), but the doctor did not permit it due to Andrie Yunus’s health reasons.
“Subsequently, on 25 March 2026, Puspom TNI received a letter from the LPSK Chairman stating that victim witness AY is under LPSK protection,” Aulia said.
“The Puspom TNI Commander has sent a letter to the LPSK Chairman regarding a request to obtain statements from victim witness AY,” he added.
However, the Head of Information did not provide further details on whether the request was granted by LPSK.
TNI has upgraded the status of four soldiers suspected of involvement in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus from initial suspects to formal suspects.
The four suspects are members of TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), namely Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES.
“The four perpetrators have been designated as suspects and are undergoing detention in a military detention facility,” Aulia stated in the press release.
Aulia continued that the four suspects have been detained since 18 March 2026 and are still under strict supervision by the Jayakarta Defence Area Military Police Command (Pomdam Jaya) Guntur.
To date, investigators from Puspom TNI are still working to gather statements by examining several witnesses.
