The Indonesian Military’s Habema Operations Command (Koops Habema) has seized a traditional Papuan house suspected of being used as a base by the armed separatist group Free Papua Organisation (OPM) in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah. The operation took place on Thursday (16/7) around Kampung Abundoga, following intelligence reports of a planned attack by the armed group. Koops Habema Head of Information, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. M. Wirya Arthadiguna, stated that personnel conducted surveillance, verification, and careful planning before moving to secure the target while prioritising public safety. Upon entering the location, troops found no OPM members but discovered one organic Lee Enfield rifle calibre 7.62 mm, two homemade firearms calibre 5.56 mm, a dismantled air rifle, ammunition, and other related equipment. All items were confiscated for further investigation. Wirya emphasised that the operation is part of the military’s commitment to protecting the community and upholding state sovereignty from armed group disturbances, while affirming that the state remains open to peaceful and dignified dialogue in accordance with the law.
