TNI Reveals Four BAIS Members as Perpetrators of Acid Attack on Activist, Including a Captain

The Indonesian National Armed Forces’ Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has revealed that four members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) were responsible for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of Kontras. The four individuals are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. Commander of Puspom TNI, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that his unit had conducted an internal investigation since the incident occurred. The results identified these four BAIS members as the perpetrators of the acid attack. However, the roles of each perpetrator are still being examined. “So we are still delving into it, delving into it, because it was only handed over to us this morning, and the investigation process is underway,” he said at TNI Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Yusri acknowledged that footage from CCTV circulating widely on social media showed two individuals as the executors of the acid attack. According to him, these two executors are included among the four members secured by Puspom TNI. “From the CCTV results, there are two people who did it. Now, where the other two are and what their roles are, we will still examine,” he said.
