The Headquarters of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has received a report from the team in Lebanon regarding an explosion incident that resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to two others. The incident occurred on Monday, 30 March 2026, in southern Lebanon.

The Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the explosion targeted the Escort Team of Company B of the Yonmek Task Force XXIII-S/UNIFIL. The team, part of the Sector East Mobile Reserve, was escorting a convoy of the Combat Support Service Unit.

“The escort was in the context of providing support from the Eastern Sector UNIFIL Headquarters at United Nations Post 7-2,” Aulia said in his statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

The troops were originally heading to the Yonmek TNI Konga XXIII-S/UNIFIL Task Force Headquarters at UNP 7-1. However, he said, due to the high escalation of conflict, the vehicle carrying several TNI soldiers was hit by an artillery attack.

Aulia stated that the exact cause of the explosion incident in southern Lebanon is still under investigation by UNIFIL. “We are also continuing to monitor the development of the situation and preparing contingency steps in the face of the dynamics in the Lebanon mission area,” said the two-star general.

The TNI has released the identities of the two soldiers who were victims: Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. Meanwhile, the two who were injured are First Lieutenant Inf Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private Deni Rianto.

“The two injured soldiers have been evacuated and are receiving medical treatment at Saint George Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon,” Aulia said.

In a separate occasion, Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Dave Laksono said that the two TNI soldiers who died in Lebanon were hit by a landmine while passing through, based on information received from various sources. “When an attempt was made to evacuate them, they were showered with armed attacks,” he said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

This Golkar Party politician requested a special and in-depth investigation to uncover the certainty of the cause. This includes the matter of the suspected landmines in the patrol passage area for peacekeeping personnel.

“There must be an investigation involving all parties and conducted openly so that justice and safety for the soldiers are truly upheld,” said Dave.
