TNI restores school facilities in Central Tapanuli following flash floods
Medan – The Natural Disaster Mitigation Task Force (Satgas Gulbencal) of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan has restored the facilities of SD Negeri (SDN) 153065 Lopian 2 in Badiri District, Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, following flash floods that struck the region.
“Currently, the school’s condition has been fully restored with progress reaching 100 per cent following the flash floods in mid-February,” said Colonel Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, Commander of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan, in Medan on Sunday.
Asrul stated that the school environment has been readied for use, enabling teaching and learning activities to resume normally in the area.
The restoration of the primary school became a priority for the Satgas Gulbencal Kodam I/Bukit Barisan task force because it directly impacts children’s educational continuity following the disaster.
“Personnel from the Satgas Gulbencal moved quickly to clean the entire school area so students could return to learning in a safe and comfortable environment,” he said.
The commander noted that the cleaning was carried out by personnel from Koramil 04/Pinangsori Kodim 0211/TT working together with personnel from Yon TP 908, both integrated into the Satgas Gulbencal Kodam I/Bukit Barisan task force.
The school cleaning work utilised manual equipment including shovels, spades, carts, brooms, and cleaning cloths to ensure the entire school area was restored to safe and clean conditions.
“Restoration of educational facilities, particularly primary schools, is an important part of helping communities recover following the disasters that occurred in the region,” he said.
The Satgas Gulbencal Kodam I/Bukit Barisan continues to work at maximum capacity to accelerate completion of post-disaster recovery work in the area.
