TNI Raids OPM Headquarters in Nduga, Papua, Seizes Firearms and Ammunition
Satgas Koops TNI Habema has taken control of a headquarters of the Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM) in Nduga Regency, Central Papua. The authorities subsequently seized evidence including firearms, ammunition, and sharp weapons such as machetes and axes.
“Patrols in the Kalimin Kompleks area serve as a firm and measured step in maintaining stability and restricting the operational space of the armed OPM group in Kodap III/Ndugama,” said Kapen Koops TNI Habema, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Wirya Arthadiguna, to reporters, as reported by detikSulsel on Thursday (16/4/2026).
The OPM headquarters raided by the authorities is located precisely in Nduga District, Nduga Regency, on Wednesday (15/4). The action was taken after the authorities identified the location of the temporary OPM headquarters led by Army Kogoya (Danyon Aluguru) and Wariambo Wandikbo (Wadanops Kodap III/Ndugama).
“Based on the reports received, the Koops TNI Habema Patrol Team immediately headed to the location and conducted a sweep that took place from 13 to 15 April,” explained Wirya.
From the sweep of the OPM headquarters, the authorities secured several pieces of evidence, including one revolver pistol with serial number RL-V1 38 Special. In addition, there were four air rifles, 7 rounds of 9 mm calibre ammunition, 1 round of 40 mm GLM ammunition, 1 round of 5.56 mm ammunition, 1 AK magazine, 1 HK hagzen, and 50 rounds of air rifle ammunition.
“In addition, other evidence includes the Bintang Kejora flag, several sharp weapons such as machetes and axes, communication devices in the form of HT and mobile phones, binoculars, bows and arrows, solar cells, and other supporting equipment,” revealed Wirya.
He added that the situation in Nduga District is safe and under control. Satgas Koops TNI Habema continues to prioritise a humane approach and uphold professionalism in every task to maintain the security and safety of the community from disruptions by the armed OPM group.
