The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters will officially inaugurate the formation of five new regional military commands (Kodam) during the peak of the 81st TNI anniversary celebrations at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Monday, 5 October 2026. “That is the plan,” stated TNI Press Chief Major General Muhammad Nas to members of the media at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (19/9/2026).

However, Nas declined to disclose the five locations for the new military commands. “The details regarding the new Kodam to be formed will be announced further at a later date,” he emphasised.

With the addition of these five new commands, the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) will have a total of 26 regional military commands throughout Indonesia. Previously, the Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD), General Maruli Simanjuntak, confirmed that the Army would be strengthened by five new regional military commands, though the inauguration date was awaiting final confirmation from the Commander of the TNI, General Agus Subiyanto.
