TNI-Polri Seize KKB Dulla Aibon Headquarters in Nabire, Hundreds of Rounds of Ammunition Confiscated
Combined TNI-Polri forces operating under Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz have successfully seized the headquarters of the armed criminal group (KKB) led by Dulla Aibon Kogoya in Nabire, Central Papua. During the raid marked by intense gunfire on the evening of 1 March, officers confiscated hundreds of rounds of ammunition and tens of millions of rupiah in cash.
The law enforcement operation involved tactical collaboration between Task Force Habema, Task Force Rajawali, and personnel from Operation Peace Cartenz. The gunfight erupted at approximately 22:40 WIT when the combined team approached the group’s hideout, with the group claiming to represent Kodap III D command.
Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, Head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2026, explained that KKB members offered resistance upon recognising the presence of officers. However, pressure from the combined forces caused the armed group to scatter.
“The armed group resisted as personnel approached, resulting in an exchange of fire. However, they ultimately fled into the forest and abandoned their headquarters along with important logistics,” said Faizal in a statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.
After the situation was brought under control, officers conducted a thorough search of the headquarters area. The results yielded highly significant evidence for the operational strength of the KKB led by Dulla Aibon Kogoya.
Senior official Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, Head of Public Relations for Operation Peace Cartenz-2026, revealed crucial findings from the search. Two mobile phones confiscated were strongly suspected to belong to victims of previous KKB violence.
One mobile phone was identified as belonging to a Brimob Battalion C member who fell in the line of duty the previous year. The other unit belonged to a civilian who was a victim in the incident involving the burning of a PT Kristalin post in Nabire several weeks ago.
Yusuf stressed that TNI-Polri would not provide space for armed groups to terrorise the community. The pursuit of Dulla Aibon Kogoya and his members would continue until they are held accountable under the law.
As of the time this report was filed, the security situation in Nabire was reported as conducive. Nevertheless, combined forces continued intensive mopping-up operations in the surrounding area to anticipate follow-up security disturbances.
The public was urged to remain calm and not be provoked by false information.
