TNI-Polri Conduct Raids and Patrols in Dekai
Jayapura (ANTARA) - TNI-Polri are currently conducting intensive patrols and raids at several points in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province, to provide a sense of security for local residents against disturbances from armed criminal groups (KKB). “This is being done because the area is prone to shooting incidents allegedly carried out by KKB around Dekai, Yahukimo Regency,” said the Head of Information for Kodam XVII Cendrawasih, Colonel Inf Tri Purwanto, to ANTARA in Jayapura on Friday. He explained that at least three shooting cases have occurred since Monday (27/4), resulting in five people injured. He hopes that the patrols and raids will provide a sense of security among the community. He also asked residents not to easily believe rumours deliberately spread by irresponsible groups. “Those rumours are intentionally spread to make the public anxious,” said Colonel Inf Tri Purwanto. The Kodam Information Chief also hopes that the community will help maintain security and report any suspicious activities to the security apparatus immediately. The Kodam Information Chief mentioned that four civilians shot by KKB occurred on Monday (27/4), affecting RK (29 years old); on Tuesday (28/4), two people were shot, namely AA (26) and NM (36); and on Thursday (30/4), a shooting against S (54).
