National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended a joint iftar gathering of the TNI and National Police. In his remarks, General Sigit emphasised the importance of TNI-Police synergy in safeguarding President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic policies amid global uncertainty.

The event was held at the Bhayangkara Field of the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. High-ranking state officials attended, including Defence Minister (Mehhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoedin, Chair of Commission I of the DPR RI for the 2024-2029 term Utut Adianto, Presidential Special Advisor for Public Order and Police Reform Retired General Ahmad Dofiri, Chair of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Anwar Iskandar, several deputy ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, and senior officials from the National Police Headquarters.

In his remarks, the National Police Chief outlined the concerning global conditions resulting from escalating conflict in the Middle East. He highlighted the Israel-America-Iran conflict, which has widened and directly impacted fluctuations in global oil prices.

General Sigit pointed out the surge in global oil prices, which briefly exceeded USD 110 per barrel as a result of attacks on energy facilities in the region.

“If this continues unchecked and oil prices keep rising, our fiscal strength will be severely strained in sustaining fuel subsidies. The consequence could be price spikes and inflation that disrupt development programmes,” said General Sigit.

Addressing these challenges, the National Police Chief stressed that the TNI and National Police have a constitutional obligation to safeguard the self-reliance programmes launched by President Prabowo. These range from downstream automotive and defence industry development to food self-sufficiency and renewable energy initiatives.

“The government continues to drive self-reliance so we can stand on our own feet. The TNI and National Police must safeguard and secure these programmes, including maintaining a conducive investment climate through security and political stability,” he said.

General Sigit also delivered a strong message about Indonesia’s long history of disunity resulting from divide-and-conquer politics. He reminded the nation that the country’s diversity must be preserved through TNI-Police cohesion as the vanguard of national defence and security.

“Our choice is to unite in diversity, or we will be fractured and experience decline. Synergy, solidarity, and cohesion of the TNI-Police together with society are the key to our ability to navigate crises and maintain economic growth,” General Sigit concluded.
