TNI Opens Opportunity to Recruit Soldiers from Interior Dayak Tribes

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is opening an opportunity to recruit members of interior Dayak tribes to become TNI soldiers.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, three ministers, the TNI Commander, and the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces at his residence in Hambalang on Saturday evening (29/8).

Ministers present in Hambalang included Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indrawijaya.

“During the meeting, President Prabowo requested updates on several matters, including adjustments to requirements related to the recruitment of interior Dayak tribes who wish to become TNI soldiers, the handling of several disasters including the aftermath of the earthquake in Flores, the eruption of Mount Merapi, and the handling of forest and land fires in Indonesia, particularly in Kalimantan and Sumatra,” read a statement from the Cabinet Secretary, quoted from the Cabinet Secretary’s Instagram account.

“The President wants education regarding the dangers of forest burning to be provided by Babinsa officers in villages to residents so that together we can protect our forests and land,” the statement continued.
