TNI on Alert Status 1; Commission I Leader: Middle East Developments Demand Vigilance
JAKARTA — Deputy Chair of Commission I of the House of Representatives Dave Akbarshah Fikarno has stated that the escalation in the Middle East following the United States and Israel’s strikes on Iran demands vigilance from all parties, including the TNI.
According to him, the alert status 1 order issued by TNI Commander General Agus Subianto represents one response to developments in the Middle East.
“Current developments in the Middle East demand vigilance, yet the TNI’s decision to elevate readiness status reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding national security,” said Dave in a statement.
Alert status 1, he said, also represents the state’s preparedness to anticipate potential threats to national security.
“This demonstrates the responsiveness of defence apparatus in facing global dynamics, whilst also providing reassurance to the public that the state is present with full responsibility,” remarked the Golkar politician.
“With solid coordination between institutions, the nation will remain safe, stable, and capable of facing global challenges with a spirit of unity and high optimism,” he added.
In a Telegram from TNI Commander No. TR/283/2026, the TNI Commander issued seven main instructions to units within the TNI.
Firstly, the Commander of the TNI’s Main Operations Command (Pangkotamaops) is ordered to mobilise personnel and main weapons systems equipment. They are also instructed to conduct patrols at strategically vital facilities and economic centres.
Patrols cover airports, seaports and river ports, railway stations, bus terminals, and critical facilities such as the state electricity company offices.
Thirdly, the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) is instructed to order defence attachés of the Indonesian Republic in countries affected by conflict to map and assess the conditions of Indonesian nationals.
Additionally, they are ordered to prepare evacuation plans if necessary. These measures are coordinated with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian diplomatic representatives in the relevant countries.
