TNI on Alert Level 1: Seven Orders from the Commander to Anticipate the Impact of a Global Conflict
JAKARTA — The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, has issued a telegram ordering all TNI units to implement a Level 1 alert as a precaution against developments in the global situation, particularly the conflict in the Middle East.
The order appears in Telegram of the Commander of the TNI No. TR/283/2026, signed by the Assistant Operations of the Commander of the TNI, Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun, on 1 March 2026.
The Head of the TNI Information Centre (Kapuspen), Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, confirmed the existence of the telegram when contacted by Kompas.com on Saturday night, 7 March 2026.
The Level 1 alert order took effect on 1 March 2026 and will remain in force until a time yet to be determined.
What are the seven commands from the Commander of the TNI during Level 1 alert?
In the circulating document, the Commander issued seven main instructions to units within the TNI.
First, the Commander of Main Operational Commands (Pangkotamaops) is asked to bring personnel and the main weapon systems (alutsista) into a state of readiness. They are also ordered to patrol strategic vital objects and centres of economic activity.
Second, the National Air Defence Command (Kohanudnas) is ordered to conduct early detection and continuous air surveillance 24 hours a day.
Third, the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) is instructed to direct military attachés of Indonesia in conflict-affected countries to collect data and map the conditions of Indonesian citizens (WNI). In addition, they are asked to prepare evacuation plans if necessary.
The measures are to be taken in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and Indonesia’s diplomatic representatives in the relevant countries.
