Four TNI soldiers suspected of carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, have been secured. The roles of the perpetrators are currently being investigated. “So we are still investigating, investigating because they were only handed over to us this morning, and the investigation process is underway. So we will later report what each of the four perpetrators did, and what their respective roles were, as we don’t know yet,” said TNI Military Police Chief Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Based on the CCTV footage found, there were two executors of the acid pouring. He said they would investigate the roles of the other two soldiers. “That’s right, from the CCTV results, there are two people who did it. Now, where the other two were and what their roles were, we will still investigate,” he stated. He also said investigators would probe whether anyone ordered the attack. Witnesses and evidence are currently being gathered, according to him. “So regarding who gave the orders, we are still investigating that. So it requires gathering witnesses and the existing evidence. And secondly, the motive issue as well,” he explained. Three Officers as Suspected Perpetrators Previously, TNI Headquarters revealed the identities of the four suspects in the acid attack case on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Three of them are first officers, namely captain and first lieutenants. “Captain NDP, Lettu SL, Lettu BHW, Serda ES,” Yusri stated. Regarding the TNI’s target timeline for resolving this case, Yusri said they would do their utmost in line with public expectations. He conveyed that they would process the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus, carried out by some of his soldiers, professionally. “We will work as hard as possible with the hope that this investigation process can be carried out as quickly as possible, professionally, and then handed over to the prosecutor in this case, the military prosecutor, for trial,” Yusri emphasised.
