TNI Military Police Investigation Unit Hands Over Case File for Andrie Yunus Murder Attempt
The investigators from the TNI Headquarters Military Police Centre have stated that they have handed over the case file for the four suspects in the attempted premeditated murder of activist Andrie Yunus.
TNI Headquarters Information Centre Head Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah said that the handover process was completed by the investigators to the Military Prosecutor on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
“The handover of the case file, suspects, and evidence of the criminal offence has been submitted to the Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta, for further examination of the completeness of the formal and material requirements of the file,” Aulia stated in a written release on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
He continued that if the file is deemed complete, the legal process will proceed to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. “The suspects handed over number four, with initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, along with the evidence,” Aulia said.
He claimed that this handover of the file demonstrates the TNI’s commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement. “And as a form of firmness in addressing every criminal act committed by TNI personnel,” he added.
Previously, Andrie Yunus urged that his case be tried through the general court mechanism. He conveyed this demand via a statement dated 3 April 2026.
The Deputy Coordinator of Kontras rejected the idea of the attackers being tried in a military court. Regardless of whether the perpetrators are civilians or military personnel, they should be tried in a general court.
According to him, a legal process through a military court has the potential not to deliver justice for the victim. He views the military court as often becoming a space for impunity for soldiers who commit legal and human rights violations.
Calls for Andrie’s case to be tried through the general court mechanism were also made by the Lokataru Foundation through a petition. As of Tuesday, 7 April 2026 at 16:20 WIB, there were 2,469 people who signed the column on change.org regarding Andrie’s case.
Andrie Yunus was doused with corrosive chemical liquid on 12 March while passing through Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. Medical records state that Andrie suffered burns of more than 20 percent due to this attack.
Last week, the police handed over the legal process of Andrie’s case to the TNI Military Police Investigation Unit. From the TNI Military Police Investigation Unit’s statement, there are four perpetrators of the dousing who come from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS).
They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, from the air and sea forces. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW hold the rank of first lieutenant, while ES holds the rank of second sergeant.
