The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) is urging the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) to act transparently and accountably regarding the designation of four soldiers as suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. TAUD is requesting that Puspom TNI release photos of the four soldiers. “We are also following the developments of the investigation by the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI), which at the same time has stated that it has ‘secured’ four TNI personnel as alleged perpetrators with the identities of Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES,” TAUD stated on Monday (23/3), quoted by Detik. In the statement, TAUD is pressing Puspom TNI to act transparently and accountably by releasing photos or directly showing the perpetrators in front of the public. The aim is for the public to independently verify the truth. In addition, TAUD has stated that it has conducted an independent investigation to identify the perpetrators involved in the attack on Andrie. There are a dozen or so alleged perpetrators who are suspected of coordinating with each other before the acid attack occurred. “TAUD’s independent investigation has identified the strong suspicion of a dozen or so perpetrators coordinating throughout the night of the incident as monitored from YLBHI surveillance cameras,” it said. They assess that this attack is a large-scale, structured, and organised operation driven by parties with authority behind the assault on Andrie. TAUD is urging the police to uncover the field actors to the intellectual actors related to this case. “We suspect that the planned attempted murder of Andrie Yunus involves a larger, trained, and systematic network. Therefore, we urge the police to continue the investigation to find not only the field actors, but also the intellectual actors responsible and the actors providing operational support to the perpetrators,” it said. Previously, the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has revealed that there are four BAIS TNI soldiers who are alleged perpetrators. The four soldiers are initialled NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. The Commander of Puspom TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four perpetrators are members of the BAIS TNI Military Police Unit from the naval (AL) and air force (AU) branches. Yusri assured that the four suspects have been secured and are undergoing in-depth examination by Puspom TNI.
