TNI Military Police Centre Swiftly Investigates Andrie Yunus Case, Expert: Clear Evidence of Professionalism

Jakarta, VIVA – The swift and open steps taken by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in uncovering the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus are seen as a tangible demonstration of professionalism and obedience to the orders of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in enforcing the law.

Legal expert Margarito Kamis stated that the performance of the TNI and law enforcement authorities in revealing this case deserves appreciation. This, he said, aligns with Prabowo’s instructions, which emphasise the importance of investigating cases transparently and thoroughly.

“This deserves appreciation because it represents obedience to the President’s orders to clarify this case. In fact, the revelation was carried out quickly and clearly,” said Margarito in Jakarta on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

According to him, the uncovering by the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) shows the institution’s commitment to firmly addressing alleged violations, including those involving internal members.

“In fact, it was the TNI apparatus itself that uncovered it, because the alleged perpetrator is also from the internal ranks. The most important thing is no longer about which institution uncovers it, but how the perpetrator can be found and legally processed,” he stressed.

In a democratic rule-of-law state, he said, the main aspect that must be upheld is the professionalism of law enforcement apparatus. Accuracy, speed, and firmness in enforcing the law are important indicators that every state institution must meet.

“The most fundamental thing is that the institution is able to carry out its function professionally. Accuracy, speed, obedience, and firmness in enforcing the law are the most important,” he stated.

For this reason, he reminded the public not to get caught up in debates about which party uncovered the case, but to focus on the substance of law enforcement itself. In his view, the success of the state lies in how far the apparatus works in accordance with the legal mandate given.

“With these swift and transparent steps, the TNI has shown strong commitment in supporting fair and accountable law enforcement, while strengthening public trust in state institutions,” he concluded.
