TNI Military Police Centre Still Probing Motive Behind Sulphuric Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
Jakarta - The TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) is still delving into the motives of four members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) involved in the sulphuric acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). “So we are also still investigating what the motive is from those four alleged perpetrators,” explained Commander of Puspom TNI Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The four suspects in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. “Regarding the place of detention, we will carry out detention entrusted to the Jaya Military District Police Command (Pomdam Jaya), where there is a super maximum security detention facility, and we will entrust them there,” he emphasised. For their actions, the suspects are charged under Article 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP). “There are paragraphs 1 and 2, where the penalties are already stipulated there, some 4 years, some 7 years,” Yusri revealed. As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns on several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim suffered burns to approximately 24 percent of his body. Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus must undergo intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
