The Indonesian National Armed Forces Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has named four individuals as suspects in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Puspom TNI is still probing the motives behind the four suspects’ actions. This was stated by TNI Puspom Chief Major General Yusri Nuryanto at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). He initially reported that four people have now been designated as suspects: NDP, SL, BHW, and S. “These alleged suspects are currently being secured at the TNI Military Police for further investigation leading to formal proceedings,” Yusri said during a press conference. He noted that his team is still examining the perpetrators’ actions, including the motives of the four individuals in throwing acid at Andrie Yunus. “We are also still investigating what the motive was from these alleged perpetrators,” he added. Yunus stated that the four suspects are being charged under Article 467 of the Criminal Code pursuant to Law No. 1 of 2023, facing a potential sentence of four to seven years in prison. “As a follow-up to the investigation activities, Puspom TNI will proceed with filing a police report based on the victim’s witness statement, implementing temporary handling of the four suspects, and submitting a request for visum et repertum to RSCM,” he said.
