TNI Military Police Centre Investigates Mastermind Behind Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Armed Forces’ Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) is investigating the mastermind behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). “So, it’s about who gave the order, right? We’re still delving into that,” said Commander of Puspom TNI Major General (Mayjen) TNI Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The two-star TNI general explained that the investigation is ongoing, involving the collection of witness statements and evidence, including an in-depth examination of the perpetrator’s motives. “We will convey the stages, starting from the investigation process, case filing, and then the handover of the file to the Military Prosecutor (Odmil), up to the trial process,” Yusri stated. “So, trust us that we will act professionally and transparently, and at those stages, we will continue to invite the media,” he added. As a result of the attack, Andrie sustained burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands. Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim suffered burns to approximately 24 percent of his body.
