A TNI member with the initials Sertu MB in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, has been reported for allegedly committing sexual harassment against an underage girl. However, the individual fled during the examination process.

“This individual is suspected of carrying out sexual harassment against a minor. Therefore, based on the report we received, we conducted an examination,” said the Commander of Kodim 1417/Kendari, Colonel Danny Ap Girsang, to reporters on Saturday (2/5).

Based on Sertu MB’s initial statement, Girsang said the incident occurred on 15 April. However, during the examination, Sertu MB escaped.

To date, the individual remains the subject of an ongoing search by authorities.

“During the examination process, the individual left the location and fled. The steps we have taken include administrative actions, where we have reported the entire incident to Denpom and to leadership,” he explained.

Regarding the act, Girsang stated that his side has issued a report against Sertu MB in the form of an unauthorised absence report (THTI) in accordance with legal provisions.

“We have also requested assistance from Denpom to conduct the search by issuing a wanted person notice (DPO), and we are continuing the search efforts,” Girsang clarified.

Regarding this case, Girsang, on behalf of the institution, apologised to the public, particularly the victim’s family. He emphasised that the TNI will not tolerate such actions and will ensure the case is investigated to completion.

“We will continue to carry out legal processes in accordance with applicable rules, in line with the violations committed, and we are committed to imposing punishment based on what will be determined by the examination team and investigators, in this case Denpom,” said Girsang.
