TNI is all right

The Indonesian Military (TNI)'s opposition to President Abdurrahman Wahid's plan to dissolve the House of Representatives is seen by some as an elegant decision in their bid to save this nation for the sake of all people.

In this context, the military has again shown its neutrality by not defending the President's will. The military's attitude must not be interpreted as a maneuver to topple the President, as alleged by Lt. Gen. Agus Wirahadikusumah.

If the President realized what the majority of the people really want for this country, i.e. his resignation, and that he has lost so much credibility and support after 18 months in office, he would gracefully step down and be forever remembered as the nation's father.
