TNI Involved in Investigation into Acid Attack on Kontras Activist Andrie Yunus
JAKARTA — The Indonesian Military (TNI) has been engaged in the investigation into the acid attack against Kontras activist Andrie Yunus. The TNI’s Head of Information (Kapuspen) at the Mabes TNI, Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the investigation into the acid attack is proceeding transparently in order to maintain public confidence.
According to Aulia, the TNI is making considerable effort to remain open throughout the investigation process so that society recognises that the military unit is professional in handling the acid attack case.
“The way we maintain transparency is certainly through what I am doing right now. So I will again invite journalist colleagues, and the investigation results will once again be conducted professionally and will eventually be made transparent,” said Aulia during a meeting with media representatives in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Transparency will not only be maintained during the investigation process but will continue through the military court proceedings should TNI involvement be substantiated. Aulia explained that the TNI’s involvement in the acid attack case is because numerous narratives have emerged in society that appear to accuse the TNI of involvement in the attack.
