TNI Investigates Allegations of Someone Ordering Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus

Four TNI soldiers suspected of dousing Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, with acid have been secured. The TNI Central Inspectorate is currently investigating whether there was someone who ordered the four perpetrators to carry out the act. “Regarding whose orders? So, we are still delving into it because it requires, so to speak, gathering witnesses and the available evidence,” said TNI Central Inspectorate Chief Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The four secured TNI soldiers are currently undergoing intensive examination at the TNI Central Inspectorate. The perpetrators are members of TNI BAIS from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches. The suspects are initialled Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES. Yusri stated that the TNI Central Inspectorate is also still investigating the motive for the acid attack carried out by the perpetrators. He assured that the investigation of this case will be conducted transparently. “Then regarding transparency in the investigation, the TNI Central Inspectorate will work professionally. We will later convey how the stages starting from the investigation process, file compilation, and then handover of the file to the Military Court so that it can proceed to the trial process,” Yusri explained. “Trust us, we will act professionally and transparently,” he added. The acid attack on Andrie Yunus occurred on Thursday night (12/3) in Salemba, Central Jakarta. Andrie suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
