TNI installs new general affairs chief

JAKARTA: Air Force Vice Marshal Wartoyo was officially installed on Tuesday as the Indonesian Military (TNI) chief of general affairs to replace Lt. Gen. Djamari Chaniago.

Djamari will reach the retirement age of 55 years in April.

The modest induction ceremony was led by TNI chief Gen. Endriartono Sutarto at its headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

Born on Dec. 28, 1949 in Magelang, Central Java, Wartoyo is the first high-ranking Air Force officer to fill the position.

Wartoyo graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1971, and held the post of Air Force deputy chief of staff before being appointed TNI chief of general affairs. -- JP
