TNI holds two-day national meeting
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Military (TNI) started a two-day national meeting on Tuesday aimed at creating a uniform vision among TNI leaders in carrying out its 2003 work program.
TNI spokesman Maj. Gen. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said on Tuesday that the meeting would be chaired by TNI chief Gen. Endriartono Sutarto and attended by the three TNI chiefs of staff and other senior officers.
He said the meeting would try to find responses to the latest developments in conflict areas, discuss internal reform, improve TNI headquarters organization, and harmonize defense doctrines with the prevailing laws.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, Minister of Defense Matori Abdul Djalil, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda, Minister of Home Affairs Hari Sabarno, and National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) chief Kwik Kian Gie are to address the meeting. --JP
