TNI Holds Joint Exercise, Showcases Kamikaze Drones and C-705 Missiles
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) held a joint exercise, Integrated TNI Operation 2026, at the Navy’s Dabo Singkep training area in the Riau Islands, showcasing the combat capabilities of the Perisai Trisula Nusantara across land, sea, and air on Wednesday (5/8).
In the simulation, various primary weapon systems were deployed, including domestically produced AKM KI-50 kamikaze drones and the firing of C-705 missiles from KRI Sampari-628.
The exercise was led by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, accompanied by the TNI Commander and the service chiefs of staff.
According to the Navy Information Service, the integrated exercise combined technology and modern warfare strategy.
The operation began with air defence by the Indonesian Air Force, which deployed its newest Rafale and F-16 fighter jets carrying MK-82 bombs, followed by a special air operation by the Rapid Reaction Force Command (Korpasgat).
At sea, the Navy deployed a kamikaze Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) launched from KRI Soeharso-991 against a maritime target, followed by mine-laying operations and the infiltration of special forces who also carried out sabotage of underwater cables by the Frogman Command (Kopaska).
The exercise also involved cyber warfare, including a simulated paralysis of enemy electrical installations.
Once the enemy area was confirmed disabled by the cyber attack, C-705 guided missiles aboard the warship were fired at land targets, neutralising enemy facilities.
In addition to missiles, the TNI also conducted naval gunfire support from KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367, and KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata-331, as well as Multi Launcher Rocket System (MLRS) fire from the Marine Corps.
Beyond air and naval elements, the operation was supported by Army airborne troops who conducted a combat jump from a C-130 Hercules aircraft.
The Army also deployed combat reconnaissance drones and field artillery units. The entire exercise was designed to enhance combat readiness and joint operational capability in facing modern threats.
Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the exercise demonstrated the TNI’s convincing readiness in carrying out its duties to safeguard, maintain, and secure Indonesia’s sovereignty.
According to him, the capabilities displayed in the exercise were tangible evidence of the TNI’s improved combat readiness, in terms of weapon systems, soldier quality, and ammunition support.
Sjafrie also said the revitalisation of national defence in 2026 is beginning to show significant results.
He noted that the various combat capabilities demonstrated in the exercise, including the use of domestic defence industry products, are evidence that Indonesia continues to strengthen its national defence self-reliance while enhancing its deterrence capability in facing various threats.
