TNI Headquarters Responds to Circulation of Telegram Instructing Siaga 1 Across All Ranks
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters has issued a response to circulating information about a Telegram from the Commander-in-Chief of the TNI that purportedly orders Siaga 1 for all troops. Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, Head of the TNI’s Public Information Centre (Kapuspen), stressed that the TNI’s primary duty is to safeguard the state from all threats.
“The TNI serves professionally and responsively, which is manifested in continuously maintaining its capability and strength to remain operationally ready, and to stand by to anticipate developments in international, regional, and national strategic environments,” Aulia said, as quoted by Antara on Saturday (7/3).
Aulia added that one of the measures to strengthen national defence is to hold routine assemblies (apel) to check troop readiness. He explained that routine assemblies are held to periodically inspect personnel and matériel on the ground.
However, when asked to confirm the veracity of the specific “Siaga 1” status as circulating, Brig Gen Aulia did not provide a definitive answer as of this report.
Earlier, information circulated among the public about a Telegram from the Commander-in-Chief with number TR/283/2026. The Telegram purportedly contains a Siaga 1 instruction for all TNI units to anticipate escalation of conflict in the Middle East. It lists seven points of instruction.
One point is that the Pangkotamaops would mobilize personnel and defence equipment under their commands and conduct patrols at vital strategic sites and economic centres, including airports, seaports, rail stations, bus terminals, and PLN offices.
