TNI Hands Over Kabais Position in Wake of Acid Attack Case Involving Andrie Yunus

The TNI’s Head of Public Relations, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the handover of the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), Lieutenant General TNI Yudi Abrimantyo, has been carried out as a follow-up to the acid attack case that befell KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. “So we need to convey here, as a form of accountability, the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out today. Thank you,” Aulia said to reporters at the TNI Headquarters Press Hall, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3). Aulia did not explicitly explain whether Yudi has been removed from his position. Aulia also emphasised that the TNI will strictly address any soldiers who commit legal violations or criminal acts. “Regarding TNI soldiers who commit legal violations or criminal acts, the TNI states that it will not tolerate them and will take strict action in accordance with applicable legal provisions, whether through military courts, imposition of disciplinary punishments in the form of detention and dismissal from position, or dishonourable discharge from military service,” he said. The TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) has revealed that there are four BAIS TNI soldiers who are suspected perpetrators. The four soldiers are initialled NDP, SL, BHW, and ES. The Commander of Puspom TNI, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, said that the four perpetrators are members of the BAIS TNI Military Police Detachment with naval (AL) and air force (AU) branches. Yusri assured that the four suspects have been secured and are undergoing in-depth examination by Puspom TNI.
