TNI Hands Over Kabais Position: A Form of Accountability

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has carried out the handover of the position of Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais). The handover took place after the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, which involved members of the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais). “So we need to state here that, as a form of accountability, the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out today. Thank you,” said TNI’s Head of Information Centre, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, to reporters at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026), quoted from detikNews. Aulia stated that the TNI had held a meeting with the Ministry of Defence. The meeting also discussed the internal revitalisation of the TNI. The joint meeting was said to be in line with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto. Aulia mentioned that one of the conclusions from the meeting was for the TNI to take firm action against every soldier who commits violations. “The Indonesian National Armed Forces reaffirms its commitment by taking firm action against every legal and disciplinary violation committed by TNI personnel,” said Aulia. Previously, the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) arrested four individuals suspected of being the perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. All four are known to be members of the Military Police unit of Bais TNI from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches. “We state that all four suspected perpetrators are members of the Military Police unit of Bais TNI, not from any specific unit, but from the Military Police unit of Bais TNI,” said the TNI Puspom Commander, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3).
