TNI Habema Seizes OPM Transit Post Belonging to Daniel Aibon Kogoya in Intan Jaya

The Habema Operations Command (Koops TNI Habema) has further strengthened security stability in the Papua region through a measured, intelligence-based operation. In the latest action, troops successfully seized a honai strongly suspected of being a transit location for the TPNPB-OPM armed group led by Daniel Aibon Kogoya in Abundoga Village, Intan Jaya Regency. This operation was a preventive measure to disrupt potential security threats before they endangered civilians. All stages of the operation, from information gathering to field observation, were carried out with very careful verification to ensure the safety of the local community. Head of Information for Koops TNI Habema, M. Wirya Arthadiguna, explained that the action was taken after strong indications emerged regarding plans for armed action and consolidation by the group in Intan Jaya. “We do not move based on mere suspicion. Every step begins with reconnaissance, verification, and thorough analysis so that the actions taken are truly on target. The most important thing is to ensure the community remains safe and can carry out their activities peacefully,” said Wirya. During a search of the transit location, troops managed to seize a number of firearms and military equipment suspected of being used for the armed group’s activities. Wirya emphasised that the success of this operation is not only measured by the amount of evidence seized, but also by the ability of the authorities to maintain a conducive situation without causing negative impacts on civilians. He guaranteed that every TNI action always prioritises respect for humanitarian values. Koops TNI Habema also issued a persuasive appeal to members of the armed group still in the forest, inviting them to stop acts of violence and return to the fold of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia through peaceful means and dignified reconciliation mechanisms. With the seizure of this transit location, it is hoped that the sense of security among the community in Intan Jaya will increase. The TNI’s main focus remains on creating an atmosphere where children can learn without fear and the Papuan community’s economic activities can continue in peace.
