TNI Guarantees Transparent Investigation into Caustic Soda Attack Case
Jakarta — The Head of the Public Affairs Centre (Kapuspen) at TNI Headquarters, Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, has assured that the investigation into the caustic soda attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus will be conducted transparently to maintain public trust.
According to Aulia, the TNI is committed to openness throughout the investigation process to demonstrate that the military is acting professionally in handling the caustic soda attack case.
“We maintain transparency through actions like what I am doing now. I will invite journalists again, and we will conduct the investigation results professionally and transparently,” Aulia said during a media meeting in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
The transparency will extend beyond the investigation phase to military court proceedings if TNI personnel are proven to be involved in the incident.
Aulia explained that TNI’s involvement in the caustic soda attack case stems from numerous narratives circulating among the public that suggest military involvement. He characterised these circulating opinions as findings requiring TNI action through participation in uncovering the case against Andrie Yunus.
“We certainly do not want this to develop into an opinion among the public,” Aulia said.
The investigation process will involve several TNI units, though Aulia clarified that the military’s approach differs from the parallel police investigation.
“We will conduct it professionally, using methods available to the TNI. This will be done professionally and carefully,” he stated.
When asked about the current progress of the TNI investigation, Aulia was unable to provide specific details, asking journalists to await further developments.
