TNI Guarantees Transparent Internal Investigation into Chemical Burns Case Against KontraS Activist
The TNI headquarters has stated that it is conducting an internal investigation regarding the caustic acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The TNI has assured that the internal investigation will be conducted transparently.
“Since this incident occurred, the TNI has immediately responded by conducting an internal investigation into the opinions developing in society. The TNI certainly works in a professional and transparent manner. We will examine the results of our internal investigation,” said TNI Public Information Chief Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah to journalists at the TNI Public Information Centre in Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
Aulia also explained the reasoning behind the TNI’s internal investigation into the case. He stated that the investigation was initiated to address public opinion regarding allegations of TNI personnel involvement in the matter.
“We are conducting the investigation in response to the opinions developing in society,” Aulia said.
Aulia noted that the circulation of issues in society regarding alleged involvement of TNI personnel prompted the institution to immediately launch an internal investigation. The TNI, according to Aulia, did not wish for the developing public opinion to spread further without clarity.
“With the opinions developing in society, we will investigate allegations regarding TNI personnel. We hope that when we complete this investigation, we will present the findings to journalists. We certainly do not want these developing opinions to spread further in society. We hope to present this later,” Aulia stated.
He also explained that the internal investigation by TNI headquarters involves various units and that the TNI would not act hastily, incorporating elements of law enforcement from within the TNI.
“This is being conducted by relevant authorities within the TNI. We know that this internal investigation will involve several units. We will examine the results regarding the opinions developing in society,” Aulia said.
“We will conduct this professionally, using methods available within the TNI. So this will be done professionally and without haste. These are the methods available within our TNI environment, and law enforcement officials are currently working on this. So once again, we ask for your patience,” he added.
