TNI: Garuda Bridge in Tangerang Strengthens Regional Economic Growth

Tangerang (ANTARA) - The construction of the Garuda Bridge on Gorong-Gorong Panunggangan Utara Pinang Road in Tangerang City, Banten, a collaboration between the government, TNI, and the community, has been completed and can support community activities while strengthening regional economic growth. Danrem 052/Wijayakrama Brigadier General TNI Faizal Rizal in Tangerang on Friday explained that the Garuda Bridge Programme is part of the support for President Prabowo Subianto’s programme to assist the community. He mentioned that there are currently 13 Garuda Bridge construction sites in the Korem 052 area. Two sites are under construction in Tigaraksa, while the other nine are still in the verification stage. “Some come from self-help assistance, CSR support, to contributions from the community and parties concerned with improving the homes of underprivileged residents,” said Faizal. The Deputy Mayor of Tangerang, Maryono, welcomed the programme positively as a tangible form of development that directly meets community needs. He assessed that cross-sectoral synergy is a key factor in delivering development that directly impacts the community. “Development cannot be done alone. Collaboration and collective concern are needed so that the benefits are truly felt by the community. What the TNI does through this programme deserves appreciation because it directly addresses the needs of residents,” said Maryono. “This bridge will greatly help residents’ mobility, speed up access to schools, healthcare services, or community economic activity centres,” he added. Maryono even proposed that similar bridge construction programmes be expanded to several other points in Tangerang City, such as the Batuceper and Belendung areas. In addition to bridge infrastructure, the RTLH Roofing Programme is also seen as a concrete step in improving the quality of life for the community, especially for underprivileged residents. “Decent housing will provide a sense of security and comfort for families. Programmes like this are very helpful for the community and are a tangible form of concern for residents’ welfare,” he stated.
