TNI Foils Sale of Subsidised Fertiliser from West Sumatra to Riau
Members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) from the Military District Command (Kodim) 0304/Agam in West Sumatra foiled an attempt to sell subsidised fertiliser outside the region by apprehending three perpetrators in the Gadut area, Tilatang Kamang, Agam Regency. “The subsidised fertiliser was planned by the perpetrators to be sold to Riau Province,” said the Agam Military District Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Slamet Dwi Santoso, on Saturday (18/4). He explained that the case began with a report from the community. When stopped, the perpetrators claimed to be transporting rice using two L300 minibuses. However, upon inspection, officers discovered hundreds of sacks of subsidised fertiliser. “Out of four perpetrators, one managed to escape. The other three, along with the two vehicles, were secured at the Kodim 0304/Agam headquarters in Bukittinggi,” he stated. The three apprehended suspects have the initials I, F, and A. “The fertiliser was transported using two L300 pickup vehicles. It is suspected that there are other parties acting as buyers,” he added. Kodim 0304/Agam will subsequently hand over the case to the police for further investigation and development. He also urged the public to report any activities that harm or potentially disrupt government programmes to the relevant authorities.
