TNI Falls in Lebanon, Persis: Consider Withdrawing from BoP, Israel-US Cannot Be Trusted
Regarding the deaths of several TNI personnel in Lebanon from an attack by Zionist Israel, KH Jeje Zaenudin, Chairman of the Central Board of Persatuan Islam (PP Persis), has asked the Indonesian Government to consider withdrawing from the Board of Peace (BoP). According to him, Israel and the United States (US) cannot be trusted to have good intentions. “Consider having Indonesia immediately exit the BoP because it is now clear that America and Israel can no longer be trusted to have good intentions for peace in the Middle East and the world in general,” said Kiai Jeje to Republika on Tuesday night (31/3/2026). Kiai Jeje also conveyed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and the wider TNI family. May they be accepted at Allah’s side as heroes who fell in a noble duty to maintain world peace. Persis requests that the Indonesian government pressure the UN to form an independent fact-finding mission to uncover the perpetrators of the attack, strengthen Indonesia’s diplomatic position, and urge Indonesia to firmly protest at the UN Security Council. “Persis also demands that Indonesia seek legal accountability from the attacking party, in this case Zionist Israel,” he stated.
