TNI Establishes Military Cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The TNI is establishing military cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to strengthen each country’s defence in the ASEAN region. The cooperation was formed when TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto met with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., during the 5th Philippines-Indonesia (Philindo) Military Cooperation Meeting 2026 held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4). Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre (Kapuspen) Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, when confirmed by ANTARA on Friday, stated that the TNI Chief and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines discussed many plans for military cooperation. Among them are joint military exercises, exchange of knowledge on military technology, and exchange of personnel for military education purposes. “Through close cooperation, it is hoped that Indonesia and the Philippines can better face regional challenges and realise a peaceful, secure, and prosperous region,” said Aulia. With this meeting, Aulia hopes that bilateral relations between Indonesia and the Philippines can be closely established. Not only that, Aulia also hopes that this cooperation can enhance the TNI’s defence capabilities in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. “The spirit of partnership shown by all participants in all programmes that have been jointly arranged is expected to be implemented effectively and sustainably in the future,” Aulia concluded.
