TNI Ensures Transparent Handling of Acid Attack Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre, Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, has assured that his team is working maximally and transparently to investigate the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. “The TNI is committed to carrying out law enforcement processes openly, professionally, and accountably,” Aulia stated in an official press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to Aulia, his side has endeavoured to disclose the investigation process stage by stage to the public. This openness was demonstrated by announcing that four members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais), who are also the alleged perpetrators of the acid attack—Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, and Second Sergeant ES—have been designated as suspects. “The four perpetrators have been designated as suspects and have been detained at the maximum security military detention facility of the Jayakarta Military Region Command (Pomdam Jaya Guntur) since 18 March 2026,” Aulia explained. “The article applied to the suspects is the assault article,” Aulia added. The TNI Military Police (Pom) has also attempted to examine several witnesses related to the acid attack case. One of them is examining Andrie Yunus as a victim witness. Aulia explained that initially, investigators intended to examine Andrie Yunus on Thursday (19 March), but doctors did not permit it due to Andrie Yunus’s health reasons. “Subsequently, on 25 March 2026, the TNI Central Military Police received a letter from the Head of the LPSK stating that victim witness AY is under LPSK protection,” Aulia said. “The Commander of the TNI Central Military Police has sent a letter to the Head of the LPSK regarding a request to obtain statements from victim witness AY,” he added. Nevertheless, Aulia did not elaborate further on whether the request was granted by the LPSK. Aulia assured that his side will continue to strive to uncover this case for the sake of justice for Andrie Yunus.
