TNI Ensures Transparency in Handling Acid Attack Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commander of the TNI Central Military Police (Puspom) Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto has assured that the case of the alleged acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), will be handled professionally and transparently.
“Puspom TNI will work professionally, and transparently, so at each stage we will continue to invite the media,” said Yusri at TNI Headquarters in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
Puspom TNI has detained four TNI members serving in the Headquarters Detachment of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Denma BAIS) TNI for alleged involvement in the acid attack incident against Andrie Yunus. The four suspects are initialled NDP, SL, BWH, and ES.
Yusri stated that the four suspects are currently being held at the Jayakarta Military District Command Detention Centre (Rutan Pomdam Jaya/Jayakarta) while awaiting further legal proceedings.
“Regarding the place of detention, we will carry out the detention entrusted to Pomdam Jaya, where there is maximum super security detention,” he said.
Nevertheless, Yusri could not yet comment further on the motive for the acid attack as the examination process is still ongoing.
“So, we ask for patience because it requires gathering witnesses and the existing evidence,” he said.
Puspom TNI will also file a police report, submit a request for visum et repertum to the hospital, and coordinate with the police regarding the secured evidence.
He emphasised that developments in the case will be communicated periodically to the public until the trial process.
“Rest assured, it will be conveyed transparently, so nothing will be covered up,” Yusri stated.
Yusri said the four TNI personnel are now threatened with charges under Article 467 Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment.
