TNI Detains Four Suspect Soldiers in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus

Jakarta - TNI Headquarters has officially detained four members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in connection with the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

The four soldiers are Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.

“So now these four suspected perpetrators have been secured at the TNI Central Military Police for further investigation leading to formal charges,” stated the Head of the TNI Central Military Police, Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto, during a press conference on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

According to plans, their detention will be transferred in the near future.

“And regarding the detention location, we will place them under detention at the Jakarta Military District Command, where there is a super maximum security facility, and we will entrust them there,” he emphasised.

The ranks of the four suspects come from the Navy and Air Force.

To date, the TNI has not disclosed their roles and motives in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.

However, two of the four TNI members are the executors.

As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands.

Based on the initial diagnosis by the medical team at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, the victim suffered burns to approximately 24 percent of his body.

Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus is undergoing intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
