TNI Deploys Hercules and Warships to Areas Affected by M 7 Earthquake in NTT

The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) headquarters will deploy a Hercules aircraft to the mainland of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), which was struck by an earthquake of up to magnitude 7. The presence of the Hercules is expected to accelerate the distribution of aid and the mobilisation of personnel and logistics. In addition, the TNI is also deploying soldiers and Republic of Indonesia warships (KRI) to the earthquake-affected locations. The TNI continues to coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that the response is integrated and swift. “The TNI is deploying Hercules and KRI to assist in disaster management and support the needs of affected communities,” said TNI Head of Public Information Major General Muhammad Nas in a statement on Saturday (15/8/2026). Nas said that his ranks in NTT have deployed personnel from Kodim 1603/Sikka, Kodim 1612/Manggarai, Kodim 1602/Ende, Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yon TP) 834/WM, and Maumere. The personnel have been instructed to evacuate victims and affected residents to the greatest extent possible. Nas said the TNI is coordinating with the regional government, BNPB, BPBD, Basarnas, the National Police, and other relevant agencies regarding the disaster response. “TNI personnel also remain on standby to provide further assistance according to developments in the affected areas,” he said. It is known that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Mbay, Nagekeo at 04.58 WIB. Shortly afterwards, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 struck Labuan Bajo at 05.13 WIB.
