TNI Deploys 5 F-16 Jets and 3 Warships to Support Smooth ASEAN Summit in Philippines
The Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) held readiness preparations in the national territory of North Sulawesi Province on Friday (8/5/2026). This step was taken to support the smooth running and security of the ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. “This activity is a form of routine joint TNI operations readiness in facing various possible situations that may occur in the ASEAN region,” said Rico when confirmed in Jakarta on Friday. According to Republika’s records, five F-16 fighter jets, an Airbus A400M aircraft, and a Hercules aircraft were deployed to support this readiness. According to Rico, the TNI also deployed three warships, namely KRI Brawijaya (320), KRI Prabu Siliwangi (321), and KRI RE Martadinata (331). He explained that the readiness activity involves land, sea, and air elements to test interoperability, troop mobility, VIP security capabilities, and rapid response to emergency conditions. “All activities are carried out in a measured, professional manner, while upholding the principles of caution and respect for the sovereignty of friendly nations,” Rico stated.
