TNI Denies Abducting Mama Sinta

The Commander of the XXIV/Mandala Trikora Command, Major General TNI Frits Wilem Rizard Pelamonia, has asserted that the TNI is not involved in the issue regarding the alleged kidnapping of Yasinta Moiwend, or Mama Sinta, which has recently gained significant attention.

“I guarantee that this was not the work of the TNI. There was no kidnapping as is being widely reported,” stated Major General Frits during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to the commander, the allegations are clearly refutable because Mama Yasinta herself has stated that she never felt kidnapped or intimidated by any party.

Frits noted that the issue escalated rapidly because no parties attempted to seek direct confirmation from the TNI. Consequently, the narrative, which appears to corner the military, has led to public speculation without a search for balanced information.

Therefore, he has called on the public to be more prudent in responding to circulating information and not to be easily influenced by unverified narratives. With this clarification, Frits hopes that the controversy surrounding Mama Sinta does not evolve into disinformation that could disturb stability, particularly in the South Papua region.
